Capture (For Therapists) — Privacy Policy & Data Deletion

Last updated: April 2026

Overview

Capture is an offline-first practice management app for mental health professionals. All clinical data is stored locally on your device. No clinical data is sent to or stored on any external server.

Information Collection

Clinical data (stored locally only)

All data you enter — client profiles, case histories, follow-up sessions, treatment goals, assessments, attachments, and payments — is stored on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up.

Optional encrypted backup

You may choose to back up your data to your own Google Drive. If you do, all clinical data is encrypted using AES-256 before being uploaded. The encrypted backup is stored in your Google Drive account, not on any server controlled by the developer. No Google account or sign-in is required unless you choose to use this feature.

Anonymous usage analytics

Capture collects anonymous usage analytics (such as which features are used, device type, and operating system) to help improve the app. No clinical data, client information, or personally identifying information is included in analytics.

You can disable analytics at any time — see the Data Deletion section below.

Location data

Capture does not collect any location information.

Third-Party Access

No clinical data is shared with any third party. Only anonymous, aggregated usage analytics are transmitted to an external analytics service to help improve the app. This can be disabled entirely — see below.

Security

All clinical data remains on your device. If you choose to back up to Google Drive, the data is encrypted with AES-256 before upload. The app is protected by a PIN lock. PDF exports are password-protected. No security system can prevent all potential breaches, but Capture is designed so that your data is never transmitted to or stored on any server controlled by the developer.

Data Deletion

Delete individual records

Within the app, you can delete individual client profiles, follow-up sessions, treatment goals, assessments, and other records using the delete option on each record.

Delete all app data

Go to your device’s Settings > Apps > Capture > Storage > Clear Data. This permanently removes all client records, session notes, and app preferences from your device.

Uninstall

Uninstalling Capture removes all locally stored data from your device.

Delete Google Drive backups

If you used the optional encrypted backup feature, your backup is stored in your own Google Drive account. To delete it, open Google Drive, locate the Capture backup file, and delete it. Capture does not retain any copy.

Disable and delete analytics data

Go to Settings > Help improve Capture and turn the toggle off. This will:

You can re-enable analytics at any time from the same setting.

No remote clinical data to delete

Capture does not transmit or store your clinical data on any server. There is no remote clinical data to request deletion of. All clinical data resides solely on your device and, if you chose to enable it, in your own Google Drive account.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
